Retina Center of Vermont’s Response to the COVID-19 Pandemic

As health care professionals it is our duty to remain available to our patients, even during these uncertain times. While we have rescheduled many appointments in order to keep our patients and employees safe, we are continuing to see our patients on a regular basis. If we have not directly contacted you regarding your appointment, that means we are still planning on seeing you as scheduled. Of course, if you have any questions about your appointment please call our office.

We continue to adhere to the sterilization and disinfection protocols as recommended by the Center for Disease Control (CDC) for all health care offices. However, some things will be a little different when you come into our office, and we would like to share that with you.

  • If you prefer to wait in your car until we are ready for you, please call our office when you arrive in our parking lot so we can check you in and we will let you know when we are ready for you. (If your appointment is earlier than 9:00 a.m. or later than 4:30 p.m. our after-hours answering service may take your call. If so, please ask them to relay your message to our office right away.)
  • To make sure our patients and employees are free of fever or other symptoms before coming into the office, we are sending out an automated phone call one day prior to each appointment asking patients to let us know beforehand if they are not feeling well, or if they may have come into contact with anyone who has COVID-19. In most cases, we will need to reschedule those appointments.
  • Anyone who enters our waiting area is required to wear a mask over their nose and mouth. Please try to wear your own mask into the building. We will make our best effort to have extra masks available for patients who don’t have one, but masks are not always in supply so sometimes we may need to turn away patients who don’t have their own masks.
  • We are providing hand sanitizer for patients in each waiting room.

We appreciate your patience and compliance with these changes. As always, the health and safety of our patients is our first priority.
